The Project
The project combines an acoustic drumkit, turntablism and electronic hardware to create a flow of beats + rhythms. With no set songs The Project relies on a formula of improvisation to create a progressive journey infused with trance, breakbeat + acoustic drumming patterns.
The Project consisted of Seton (aka Donkihoof) and Kent (aka The Brown Hornet). The pair’s appreciation for various styles of music facilitated the birth of the act. Donkihoof was playing various one off events in support slots for dj’s (including Dave Atkins – Resin Dogs , Nick Taylor – Edgecore, Noodles – Tribe187) and The Brown Hornet was drumming in a selection of bands (including on folk singer Jodi Martin’s national tour). The Project played shows in 2004 around the North NSW area until The Brown Hornet travelled overseas to Havana, Cuba to study all aspects of Cuban percussion from world renowned Cuban percussionists.
